Salt-brained fermented eggs are the best way to prepare eggs. The fermentation process gives the boiled eggs a slight zingy taste that is extra special.

Fermented boiled eggs can replace a regular boiled egg in any recipe, potato salad, deviled eggs, egg salad sandwiches, and the list goes on.

    How To Season Fermented Eggs

The flavor combinations are limitless with fermented boiled eggs.

Try using the leftover brine from another ferment as a starter for this recipe. The brine from fermented jalapenos will give it a pop of spiciness. Other great options include fermented carrots, sauerkraut, and garlic.
What to really kick this recipe up a notch? Try our kimchi pickled eggs recipe, where the boiled eggs are covered in kimchi brine.

Or add ingredients such as fresh garlic, onions, dill, bay leaves, hot peppers, or your favorite pickling spice mix.

    How To Serve Fermented Eggs

Whether you’re having a family reunion, holiday get-together, company party, or even a birthday, your guests will be impressed with fermented eggs.

Nothing transforms a party like a yummy homemade and healthy appetizer. There’s something so festive about the fermented zing, and your guests will be sure to appreciate the effort you put in to make this delicious treat.

Fermented eggs add a zing to a traditional deviled eggs recipe.

    Notes

The fermented eggs will last up to a month or more in the refrigerator. If they begin to smell off, do not consume them.

    Ingredients

    • 12 Eggs, hard-boiled & peeled
    • 3 cups Water (chlorine-free)
    • 2 tbsp. Salt (non-iodized)
    • ½ tsp. Sugar
    • 1 packet Starter Culture or ¼ cup juice from kimchi, sauerkraut, or any other vegetable ferment.
    • ¼ cup Onion, chopped
    • 2 -3 Garlic cloves, crushed
    • 2 Hot Peppers of choice (Jalapeno, Fresno, Serrano...)
    • 2 Bay Leaves
    • 1 -2 Dill sprigs
    • ½ tsp. Coriander seed, crushed
    • ½ tsp. Black Pepper
    • ½ tsp. Mustard Seed

    Instructions

    1. Dissolve the salt, sugar, and starter culture (or juice) in 3 cups of water

    4. Add the water until the eggs are completely submerged.
    5. Seal with a lid or airlock top.
    6. Gently shake the jar to mix the ingredients
    7. Place jar in a cool place and allow it to ferment up to 3 days
    8. Place in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
